South Fraser Community Services Society

The South Fraser Community Services Society has been providing food, shelter and most importantly, hope and support, to the region’s most vulnerable citizens for more than nineteen years.

Hope & Area Transition Society

Nothing can be more important in our communities than the health and welfare of our children. They represent our future, and investing in them will result in positive health, social and economic outcomes for today and tomorrow.

The Hope & Area Transition Society is promoting the development of a safe and healthy society everyday through the services, advocacy and education programs they provide for individuals and families affected by social issues. Most recently, through funding from the Envision Financial Community Endowment, they have developed the Violence Prevention Program, a nine month in-school initiative aimed at breaking the cycle of violence in children’s lives.

Ann Davis Transition Society

Navigating the rocky road to adulthood is challenging for young girls at the best of times.

Girls Empowerment Group, a newly-launched program at the Ann Davis Transition Society in Chilliwack, brings girls aged 12-17 years together for eight-week sessions to build life skills and develop behavioural and emotional supports. The Envision Financial Community Endowment grant will provide funding for four groups of 12 girls each who will benefit from facilitated instruction and recreation and crafts to learn about communications, healthy relationships, abuse awareness, understanding emotions and leadership to enhance the girls’ self-image.

Boys & Girls Clubs of South Coast BC

Each year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC (BGC) helps more than 10,000 kids and families facing social and economic difficulties. In Surrey, Delta, and Langley, that translates to 300 per day and 1,195 each year. But with ongoing cuts to provincial social services coupled with an increasingly uncertain economy, BGC has recently witnessed a spike in demand for its after-school prevention program.

Quest Outreach Society

Imagine living every day filled with the pain of hunger, never knowing when or where you’ll get your next meal. For thousands of Surrey residents, this situation is a sad reality of life.

“It’s disheartening to know that a quarter of children in the province are living below the poverty line, and almost 20 percent of adults face food insecurity on a daily basis,” explains Elizabeth Crudgington, executive director of the Quest Outreach Society, a non-profit organization that runs a low-cost grocery market in Whalley.
